Essential Tools and Supplies for Your Survival Kit

When it comes to survival, being prepared is key. A good survival kit should contain all the necessary items that you might need in order to survive in a variety of situations. One of the most important elements of any survival kit is medical supplies. Having access to medical supplies can make the difference between life and death in an emergency situation, so it’s essential that your kit contains the right items. Let’s take a look at some of the most important medical supplies you should have in your survival kit.

First Aid Kits

A first aid kit is one of the most important things to have in your survival kit. First aid kits come in all shapes and sizes, so you’ll want to make sure you get one that has all the essentials for treating minor injuries like cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and insect bites. Look for a first aid kit that contains adhesive bandages, gauze pads, antibiotic ointment, alcohol wipes, tweezers, scissors, and other basic supplies for treating minor wounds.

Emergency Medications

Another critical element of a well-stocked survival kit are emergency medications. This includes any prescription medications you or someone else may need if an emergency arises such as asthma inhalers or EpiPens for severe allergic reactions. Additionally, it’s also important to keep some over-the-counter medications on hand such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain relief and antihistamines for allergies or bug bites. Make sure to include any other medications that may be necessary depending on your particular needs and health conditions.

Medicines That Combat Infection

In addition to basic first aid items and emergency medications, it’s also important to include medicines that combat infection in your survival kit. Antibiotics are essential if you are dealing with a wound or injury that could become infected (such as deep cuts). Ointments containing antiseptics like hydrogen peroxide or bacitracin can help prevent infections from occurring in minor wounds by killing off any germs present on the skin surface before they can cause an infection. It is always best to consult with your doctor prior to stocking up on antibiotics or other infection fighting medicines as they will be able to provide advice regarding which specific medicines would be best suited for use during a crisis situation.

Having access to medical supplies is essential when it comes time to survive an emergency situation—and having them readily available within your survival kit is even more important! Including essential items such as first aid kits, emergency medications (prescription and/or over-the-counter), and medicines that combat infection should be top priority when packing up a survival bag or stocking your bug out shelter with necessary supplies.

On top of that, items like bandages, gauze, and antiseptics are also essential for wound care. Be sure to include any special medications or prescriptions that you may need as well. Additionally, having a supply of medicines for common illnesses such as headaches, stomachaches, and allergies could prove invaluable in an emergency situation—and should be included in any survival kit.
